Method:
- Close both hands into fists and place them on your chest.
- Keep your left hand on your chest and, while inhaling, extend your right hand straight out in front of you, raising your index finger (associated with the air element) upward.
- Now, bring your right hand back to your chest and extend your left hand straight out, raising the index finger upward.
- Perform this action alternately with both hands six times.
Benefits:
- The word “Shuchi” means cleanliness. This mudra helps in keeping the large intestine clean and prevents constipation. If you suffer from chronic constipation, practice this mudra four times a day. If the constipation is mild, practice it 6 to 12 times in the morning and afternoon.
- If you experience constipation while traveling or otherwise, practice this mudra 5 to 6 times while lying in bed. Follow this with Mushti Mudra (Fist Mudra), which will be described next. Combining Shuchi Mudra with Mushti Mudra provides immediate relief from constipation.
- This mudra also increases discipline and enhances leadership qualities. (Please also refer to Ankush Mudra.)
