This mudra is dedicated to the Sun God.
Method:
To form this mudra, three different mudras are used together. There are two methods to perform it:
- Form Vyana Mudra with your right hand, as previously described. In Vyana Mudra, the tips of the thumb, index, and middle fingers are joined while the other two fingers remain straight. Now, form Apana Mudra with your left hand.
- Form Prana Mudra with your right hand and Apana Mudra with your left hand. Prana Mudra is formed by joining the tips of the thumb, ring finger, and little finger.
In both methods, the left hand remains in Apana Mudra, while the right hand’s mudra changes. In the first method, the right hand is in Vyana Mudra, and in the second method, it is in Prana Mudra.
Benefits:
In Pushan Mudra, the benefits of Prana, Vyana, and Apana Mudras are combined. The individual benefits of these mudras have already been described. In summary, the benefits are:
- Strengthens the digestive system, enhances lung function, and influences the Manipura Chakra. It also strengthens the nervous system.
- Prana Mudra awakens dormant energies in the body, regulates blood circulation, and enhances vitality.
- Vyana Mudra helps prevent heart diseases and high blood pressure.
- Apana Mudra supports the entire excretory system, urinary system, and bowel movements, while also protecting against heart disease and high blood pressure. Combining these mudras provides all these benefits together.
- When we form Vyana Mudra with the right hand and Apana Mudra with the left hand (in the first method), it alleviates nausea, vomiting, gas, and heaviness in the stomach. When we form Prana Mudra with the right hand and Apana Mudra with the left hand, it strengthens the Manipura Chakra, and the energy generated from there spreads throughout the body. This strengthens the brain, improves memory, and awakens new consciousness in every part of the body.
As this mudra is dedicated to the Sun God, it directly affects the Manipura Chakra (solar plexus). The Manipura Chakra is directly related to the sun. Just as the sun provides fire, the Manipura Chakra ignites the digestive fire in our body.
