How to Perform:

  1. Place your right hand diagonally under the left hand.
  2. Take the thumb of the lower hand (right hand) and slide it through the space between the little finger and ring finger of the upper hand (left hand).
  3. Press the thumb against the center of the palm of the upper hand.
  4. Now, form Prithvi Mudra (Earth Gesture) with the upper hand (left hand) by joining the tip of the thumb and the tip of the ring finger together.
  5. Repeat the same steps with the left hand placed under the right hand to perform the mudra on both hands alternately.

Duration:

  • Practice this mudra for 5 to 10 minutes, three times a day, alternating between both hands.

Benefits:

  1. All Benefits of Prithvi Mudra: Makara Mudra incorporates all the benefits of Prithvi Mudra, which include:
    • Reducing weakness.
    • Improving blood circulation and overcoming anemia.
    • Enhancing strength, vitality, and enthusiasm.
  2. Energy and Vitality: The name “Makar” refers to the crocodile, a creature known for remaining dormant for long periods, but when it awakens, it exhibits tremendous strength. Similarly, this mudra helps in overcoming lethargy, depression, and dissatisfaction, and instills a sense of energy and vitality instantly.
  3. Relieves Under-eye Circles: Practicing Makara Mudra can help in reducing dark circles under the eyes, making it beneficial for improving the appearance of tired or stressed eyes.
  4. Improves Kidney Health: The center of the palm corresponds to the kidney point. When pressure is applied to this point using the thumb of the lower hand, it stimulates the kidneys. This helps in maintaining healthy kidneys, prevents urinary issues, and ensures the elimination of toxins from the body through the kidneys. Hence, the phrase “He has strong kidneys” implies strength and endurance.

For enhanced benefits, practice Makara Mudra with deep, long breaths. It will further boost energy levels and promote inner strength and vitality.
