Linga Mudra: Method and Benefits

Method:

Interlock the fingers of both hands, forming a fist, and keep the left thumb upright.

Purpose:

This mudra generates heat in the body.

Duration:

Practice for at least 15 minutes, three times a day. It can also be done for longer periods.

Benefits:

  1. This mudra provides immediate relief from colds and coughs.
  2. The heat generated by this mudra helps melt and reduce excess phlegm, making it very effective for treating coughs, asthma, lung issues, and sinus problems. Even chronic colds can be cured with regular practice. It acts as a remedy in such cases.
  3. People who feel excessively cold or have cold hands and feet should practice this mudra to generate warmth in the body.
  4. It helps in low blood pressure.
  5. Linga Mudra aids in reducing excess fat and obesity, but attention to diet is also necessary.
  6. Individuals with a phlegmatic constitution should practice this mudra daily during cold weather.
  7. It can also help in treating severe infections.

Precautions:

  1. Do not practice this mudra if you have high blood pressure.
  2. Avoid this mudra if you have a stomach ulcer or abscess.
  3. Those suffering from colds and coughs should practice this mudra first thing in the morning and before bedtime.

Special Notes:

  1. While practicing this mudra, increase your intake of water, fruit juices, milk, and ghee.
  2. Avoid practicing this mudra in excessively hot weather.
