In Hindu tradition, Ganesh Ji is worshipped before beginning any auspicious task to ensure that there are no obstacles. Ganesh Ji is known as Vighneshwar, the remover of obstacles. The same effect of invoking Ganesh Ji can be achieved by performing this mudra with both hands.

How to Perform Ganesh Mudra:

  1. Position the Left Hand:
    • Bring your left hand in front of your heart with the palm facing outward.
  2. Position the Right Hand:
    • With your right hand, make a palm-facing inward gesture and create a grip by interlocking the fingers of both hands.
  3. Practice Breathing:
    • As you inhale, stretch your hands out in front of your heart. As you exhale, relax the grip. Repeat this process 5 to 6 times.
  4. Reverse Hand Direction:
    • Swap the hand positions so that the right palm faces outward and the left palm faces inward. While stretching your hands, keep the thumbs touching each other and do not separate them. You can also perform this mudra with the elbows bent at an angle. After practicing, bring the hands back to touch your chest.

Duration:

  • Practice this mudra for 5 to 10 minutes, two to three times a day.

Benefits:

  1. Influences the Heart Chakra:
    • This mudra affects the Anahata Chakra (Heart Chakra). Since the Heart Chakra controls the lower three chakras (Manipura, Swadhisthana, and Muladhara), they also benefit from this mudra.
  2. Increases Self-Confidence and Vitality:
    • It greatly boosts self-confidence, provides energy, and increases courage, helping you handle even the most challenging tasks with ease.
  3. Strengthens Heart Muscles:
    • This mudra strengthens the heart muscles, improves blood circulation in the heart, and prevents heart diseases. It ensures that the heart’s pumping system works efficiently and blood flow is optimized.
  4. Clears Sinus and Respiratory Issues:
    • The tips of our fingers contain sinus points. By making a grip and pulling with the fingers, these points are activated. This helps in clearing sinus, nasal congestion, colds, and respiratory pathways. It helps in expelling mucus.
  5. Expands Chest and Lungs:
    • Pulling the hands in various directions helps in widening the chest and expanding the lungs, preventing respiratory issues.
  6. Strengthens Arms and Shoulders:
    • The mudra helps in strengthening the nerves, veins, and muscles of the arms and shoulders. It also helps in relieving numbness in the hands by improving blood circulation.
  7. Increases Fire Element:
    • This mudra increases the fire element in the body, generating warmth and making you more generous. It is especially beneficial for those with a cold nature (Kapha).

Ganesh Kriya

In addition to the Ganesh Mudra, there is also the Ganesh Kriya, which is not a mudra but is highly beneficial and simple to perform.

  1. Before Bathing:
    • Before your morning bath, take some mustard oil on the palm of your left hand.
  2. Apply Oil:
    • Using the index finger of your right hand, apply the oil inside the anus and gently rotate to remove any stuck feces. Wash your finger after doing this and repeat the process once more.
  3. Benefits:
    • This kriya helps in preventing anal disorders such as constipation, piles, fistula, and prostate issues.
    • Applying mustard oil with the index finger to both nostrils and the navel can prevent cold, cough, sinus, cracked lips, and dry skin.
    • Rubbing your palms together afterward can help prevent cancer.

By incorporating Ganesh Mudra and Ganesh Kriya into your daily routine, you can enhance your overall health, boost your vitality, and protect against various ailments.
