Method:
- Sit in Vajrasana (thunderbolt pose).
- Place the tip of the left thumb at the root of the little finger and close the fist, positioning it four fingers’ distance away from the left knee, with the palm facing downward.
- Close the right fist and place the soft part of the right thumb beneath the right nostril, effectively closing the nostril.
- Open the mouth and inhale through it. After filling the lungs, close the mouth, pulling the lips inward as much as possible, and hum the sound “Om” while exhaling slowly. Keep the mouth closed as you breathe out and pull the stomach inward.
- Alternate this process with both nostrils, practicing for 5 minutes with the right nostril and 5 minutes with the left nostril. This technique is also known as Gagan Bhedi Pranayama.
This exercise consists of three parts: the hand mudra, the “Om” humming, and pranayama. When combined, it has powerful effects.
