Method:
Bring both hands close to your heart and form the Gyan Mudra (Knowledge Mudra) with both hands. Position the left palm facing inward toward the heart, and the right palm facing outward (in opposite directions). Place the tip of the middle finger of the left hand on the top of the Gyan Mudra of the right hand, so that the tip of the index and thumb of the right hand meets with the tip of the middle finger of the left hand. Keep the remaining fingers straight. Take deep, slow breaths while holding this mudra.
Duration: 5 minutes, three times a day.
Benefits:
- Energy Coordination: This mudra creates a balance between the inner and outer energies, leading to a sense of happiness and joy.
- Selflessness: It symbolizes that we should always work for the welfare of others. The middle finger represents Saturn, the index finger represents the soul, and the thumb represents the divine. The union of the soul and divine in one hand, and Saturn in the other, suggests that we must prepare for transitions from this life to the next—change is inevitable, and we must always be ready.
- Spiritual Practice: This mudra is beneficial for spiritual practices and helps achieve meditation or samadhi quickly. After attaining enlightenment, when Buddha delivered his first sermon in the Deer Park at Sarnath, he used this mudra. It represents the turning wheel of Dharma.
